Product detailed description
The design of the down chambers is "Z" shaped, which guarantees the best thermal resistance and comfort when sleeping. An anatomically shaped hood protects the head and face from the cold. 3D or 2D collar separates the head compartment from the body compartment. KWAK self-fasteners allow for one or two-handed adjustment of the collar and hood circumference. A reversible zipper allows the sleeping bag to be unzipped from the top and bottom (opening for leg ventilation). A special textile strip, which supports the zipper, prevents the zipper from getting stuck in the fabric and a covering inner flap prevents heat from escaping through the zipper. The entire inner flap is filled with goose down. The two or three chamber 3D bottom increases thermal comfort in the leg area and reduces the risk of frostbite.
KWAK sleeping bags are filled with European goose down feathers 90/10 650 cuin (filling), which are excellent for their thermal insulation properties and are able to trap air molecules. When you climb into your KWAK sleeping bag, the air cushion starts to warm from your body heat, which you radiate to the surroundings.
Inside the KWAK sleeping bag there is a small pocket for small things, which is with Velcro or nylon zipper. Thanks to this pocket, you can sleep while keeping important things like documents, mobile phone or medication inside the sleeping bag.
Each KWAK sleeping bag is supplied with a storage packing (PU mesh) and compression packing (urenzid, four drawstring straps). The compression sleeve serves to reduce the volume of the sleeping bag by up to 80% and thus facilitates its transportation. At the same time it protects the sleeping bag from damage and dirt. However, each such compression wears out the insulating filling, and therefore the compression sleeve should only be used for the necessary length of time. After each trip, it is advisable to store the sleeping bag in an uncompressed state, for example in our storage pack or loose in the wardrobe.
Inner Material
The inner material of the KWAK sleeping bag is ultra-lightweight NYLON KWAK 20D Ultra Light RipStop Shell 38 g/m2. It is very comfortable and soft to the touch. The inner fabric is breathable so you won't sweat. The inner fabric has a safety and strength protection called RipStop.
Outer Material
KWAK sleeping bag outer material with NANO nylon Ultra RipStop Shell 58 g/m2. Nanotechnology has great technical parameters, see below. The outer fabric has a safety and strength protection called RipStop. The advantages of ripstop fabrics are a very good weight to stability ratio and high tear strength. Thicker warp or weft threads are woven into the thin fabric at 5-10 mm intervals.
Nanofiber Membrane
The nanofibre membrane is made of 100% PU and the diameter of the nanofibres is 150 nm. Due to this structure, the nanofibre membrane has 25% more pores than other porous membranes and is suitable for physical activities. The PTFE microporous membrane has been developed for windproof applications.
It is 100% windproof and consists of several thin layers. The non-porous membrane (hydrophilic) is made of flexible PU. It has a low surface weight, which gives it a high vapour permeability of Ret 3 Pa.m2.W-1 (40 000 g/m2/24h). The water column height is 12 000 mm. The breathability is 0.129 mm.s-1 0.025 cfm. The upper part of the material is protected with a DWR - Flourkarbon C6 (PFC-free) hydrophobic treatment with lotus effect - despite constant exposure to dust, dirt, rain and other elements, the lotus flower leaves remain clean and dry. Scientists have used nanotechnology to mimic this effect, creating a surface that is waterproof and has self-cleaning properties.
Comfortable sleeping, sweet dreams and happy waking will be ensured by our KWAK sleeping bag. The best materials have been used to develop this model to ensure high durability, comfort and great thermal comfort when sleeping. It is a pleasantly warm and cleverly designed sleeping bag suitable even for difficult climatic conditions. Be sure to pack the KWAK sleeping bag on your expedition, which will give you a comfortable and warm shelter even in relatively low temperatures and in up to four seasons ( spring / summer / autumn / winter ).
KWAK Sleeping Bags Have Been Tested according to the European Standard EN ISO 23537-1
The European standard EN ISO 23537-1 requires a thermal and certified manikin that provides three temperature results - Comfort, Limit and Extreme. These temperatures have been processed for general consumers.
- -5 °C (23 °F)
Comfort
The temperature at which a standard woman can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position.
- -12 °C (10 °F)
Limit
The temperature at which a standard man can sleep for eight hours in a crouched position (for example, curled up in a ball) without waking up.
- -32 °C (-26 °F)
Extreme
The minimum temperature at which a standard woman can stay for six hours without risk of death from hypothermia (although frostbite is already possible).
These ratings are taken assuming that the subject (female/male) has used a camping mat and tent and is wearing one full-body base layer of thermal underwear (long-sleeved shirt and trousers). For the purpose of these measurements, a 'standard male' is assumed to be 25 years old with a height of 173 cm and a weight of 73 kg and a 'standard female' is assumed to be 25 years old with a height of 160 cm and a weight of 60 kg.
KWAK Sleeping Bags Are Tested by Our Satisfied Customers
Thanks to our satisfied customers, we have temperature ranges according to real experience (under a tent, in the open air or under a celt, etc.) and subjective experience (with clothes, without clothes, etc.).
- -8 °C (18 °F)
Feeling Comfort
The temperature at which the average woman can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position.
- -15 °C (5 °F)
Feeling Limit
The temperature at which the average man can sleep for eight hours in a curled-up position (for example, curled up in a ball) without waking up.
- -36 °C (-33 °F)
Feeling Extreme
The minimum temperature at which the average woman can stay for six hours without risk of death from hypothermia (although frostbite is already possible).
Care and Maintenance
For proper function and longevity of the product, the following principles must be observed
Before use, tap the KWAK product so that the filling can be evenly distributed in the chambers. Do not leave the KWAK in the compressed state longer than strictly necessary. After use, ventilate the KWAK and allow to dry. If possible, hang it or place it loosely in a dry place. Do not use chemicals. Always use special liquid detergents designed for feathers, such as our recommended nikwax detergent, which is not aggressive to feathers (it does not disturb their structure, washes out well when soaking and does not crystallise in the fine folds of the filling). Machine wash at 30°c with three tennis shoes. Use the delicate wash programme or the sportswear programme. Squeeze multiple times. The first time on 400 rpm and then max. At 600 revolutions. Repeat spinning as necessary. KWAK product must be tumble dried with three dryer balls. The temperature of the hot air must not exceed 50°C. After the first drying, it is possible that the feathers will not be evenly distributed and it will be necessary to pat the feathers evenly and repeat the drying process. It is possible to put scented dryer sheets in the dryer drum.
Manufacturer's note
Drying at home on the heater or outside in the sun is not recommended. It is best to hang the sleeping bag somewhere inside and let it dry naturally. Using washing machine for cleaning the sleeping bag might reduce it's functionality. Wash with caution and do not use tumble dryer.
