Product detailed description

Protective 3-layer respiratory mask with nanofiber membrane, European made by Spur. The nano material of the mask has a proven 84% capture rate for virus-sized particles. The nano mask is suitable for all those who need a higher level of protection (medical personnel, chronically ill, risk groups, allergy and asthma sufferers). The nanofiber masks are disposable and have a reinforced bendable edge that easily adapts to any face shape.

Spur nanofiber masks are disposable, contain a nanofiber filter and are used for professional protection from viruses and bacteria, as well as smog and allergens. When filtering the smallest particles (viruses), the nano material has been proven to have a filtration capacity of 84%, which meets FFP2. For full filtration capacity, the mask needs to be shaped well around the face to ensure a tight seal. The measurement of the filtration efficiency was performed at the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the European Academy of Sciences, the measurement report is dated 1 April 2020.

How Does the Nanofiber Membrane in the SpurTex® Antivirus Mask Work?

The nanofiber is 1000 times thinner than a human hair and is invisible to the naked eye. In the European, we are experts in nanofibers and were the first in the world to develop a device for the industrial production of nanofibers in 2004 in Liberec. Most manufacturers today use meltblown technology to produce nanofibers, but the European company SPUR produces them by electrospinning. Thanks to this, they are able to produce fibers much thinner and achieve the highest filtration capabilities.

The nanofibers are spun into a nanofiber membrane, which can be imagined as a very dense net or filter. The holes in this filter are so small that an air molecule can pass through, but a bacteria, virus or allergen cannot. The nanofiber membrane has been tested for capturing sub-micron particles (10-400 nm) and is therefore ideal for capturing a wide variety of bacteria and viruses (SARS-CoV-2 virus is reported to have a realistic size of 80-150 nm).

About the Material

The material SpurTex® VS L2 V1, from which the nano mask is made, fully complies with the material requirements of the European standard EN 149:2001+A1:2009 for filtering half-masks against particles and meets the quality class FFP2. However, thanks to the unique properties of the nanofiber filter layer, the SpurTex® VS L2 V1 material also exhibits excellent capture efficiency in the ultrafine particle range (10-400 nm) and is therefore ideal for the capture of a wide variety of bacteria and viruses (the SARS-CoV-2 virus has a reported realistic size of 80-150 nm). These filtration properties are simultaneously achieved at very low pressure drops, which not only significantly increases breathing comfort when wearing the nano mask, but also reduces the pressure drop between the edge of the nano mask and the face, thus reducing the risk of unwanted particles passing through this space.

Protects the User from the Environment

The extremely dense nanofiber membrane captures the most common biological threats to human health currently known, such as viruses, dust, allergens or smog. The disposable nano mask is made of the unique nanostructured filter material SpurTex® VS and provides effective active respiratory protection especially in the capture of ultra-fine particles between 10 and 400 nm in size (i.e. bacteria and viruses).

Thanks to the low pressure resistance (40-85 PA at an air flow of 30 l/min), the masks remain perfectly breathable and allow for easy breathing. The ergonomics of the mask have been designed to ensure not only protection from the environment but also perfect user comfort. The mask has a specific cut, which is complemented by a bendable brim.

Benefits of the SpurTex® Nano Mask

  • The nanofiber mask has comparable filtration efficiency to a respirator w/o exhalation valve.
  • The nanofiber mask protects the wearer from the environment.
  • It protects against COVID-19, influenza, as well as bacteria and allergens.
  • It is suitable for allergy and asthma sufferers.
  • One of the highest quality nanofiber membranes on the market
  • Strong nanofiber membrane with high specific weight

How Long Can the SpurTex® Nanofiber Mask Be Worn for?

Nano masks are disposable, typically they can be worn for 3-8 hours depending on the environment you are in.

No Chemicals

SPUR nanofiber antiviral masks work on the principle of a mechanical barrier. No chemicals are used.

SPUR Effectively Protects You from:

  • smog
  • allergens
  • pollens
  • bacteria
  • viruses
  • moulds

Dimensions of the Mask

75 mm x 175 mm (approximate dimensions folded)

180 mm x 175 mm (approximate dimensions unfolded)

Maintenance of the Mask

The SpurTex® VS filter fabric nano mask is categorised as a disposable material. Its unique filtration properties are only retained for a very limited time depending on the environment in which it is used. This is because in normal use, after 3-8 hours, the nano mask contains a significant concentration of harmful particles (bacteria, viruses, etc.) in the special nanofiber filter and it must be changed frequently in contaminated environments. The nanofiber structure itself is not treated with any antimicrobial treatment.

How to Sterilize the Mask?

It is not recommended to wash or iron the material. The recommended method of sterilization is with germicidal (UV-C) lamps or an oxidative sterilizer (20 minutes on each side). The mask can also be sterilized by lightly spraying with ethanol or using a suitable disinfectant, but the mask must not get wet and must be allowed to dry completely afterwards. The mask can be sterilised in this way 1-3 times. Steam sterilisation is not recommended. Other sterilisation methods must be discussed with the manufacturer.

How to Put on and Use the Mask (According to WHO Recommendations)?

Putting on the Mask

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water, wipe hands with a disposable towel and use disinfectant.
  2. Check the packaging of the mask, remove the mask from the packaging and check the integrity of the mask.
  3. Grasp the mask so that the folded edge is at the top
  4. When using the string type - hold the mask at the root of the nose and tie the top strings at the top of the head with a bow. Then grasp the bottom strings and tie them at the nape of the neck. Shape the edge of the mask to the shape of your nose.
  5. When using the elastic band type - grasp the elastic bands in both hands and pull them taut behind your ears. Pull the mask as high as possible to the root of your nose and pull it into the desired shape.
  6. Grasp the bottom edge of the mask and pull over the mouth and chin.

Removing the Mask

  1. Wash your hands with soap and water, wipe your hands with a disposable towel and use disinfectant. Do not touch the front of the mask.
  2. When using the string type - untie the bows at the back of the head, then at the top of the head and remove the mask holding only the strings.
  3. When using the elastic band type - grasp the elastic bands in both hands and remove the mask holding only the elastic bands
  4. Dispose of the mask in a specially designated waste receptacle. Wash hands with soap and water, wipe with a disposable towel and use disinfectant.

Composition:

The nano-blanket is made of SpurTex® VS material, a trilaminate composed of viscose-based non-woven fabrics with specific weight ranging from 60 to 90 g -2 on the surface and a specially developed active nanofiber filter layer made of PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) polymer, prepared using the state-of-the-art unique technology of polymer solution softening in an electrostatic field.

The Nanofiber Is Safe for Humans and Nature

The nano mask does not contain any highly fragile borosilicate microfibers, commonly used in standard respiratory protective devices, which have negative environmental but above all health properties (their use may result in the separation of sharp needle-like particles that have potentially carcinogenic effects).

Warning

The manufacturer accepts no liability, whether direct or indirect, for damages (including loss of profit or loss of reputation) caused by improper application or use of SpurTex® VS.

It holds perfectly on the face, it breathes well with them, and even glasses are not a problem. I survived the entire Covid epidemic with them without getting infected right in the focus of the covidarium. I prefer masks with ties for easy handling and unfortunately Spurtex seems to no longer make them. That's why I pre-stocked on Nanospace :-).

Hard, shapeless material, it crumples and the mask does not seal on the face. I don't have a small face, on the contrary, but I had to tighten the rubber bands so that the side wouldn't blow into my mouth. There is no fixing at the base of the nose. And all this for quite a bit of money.
