Product detailed description

The FN® 1 BioMax functional coating was developed based on FN® 1 na to maximize its antimicrobial function and enable its use as an effective, long-lasting biocidal agent in healthcare facilities, nursing homes, homes and other locations to improve protection against the spread of infection. FN® 1 BioMax is a titanium dioxide-based composite antibacterial protective coating with an effective biocidal agent and a very strong photocatalytic effect. The antibacterial effect of the active biocidal agent is enhanced by the photocatalytic effect, which is activated when exposed to daylight or artificial light with UVA spectrum.

Unlike chemical products, its protective and self-cleaning properties are inexhaustible. It guarantees extremely effective protection of the substrate and is therefore often used as an effective technology to reduce the risk of disease transmission indoors - especially in healthcare facilities.

FN® 1 BioMax functional coating is inert, contains no organic substances and does not release any unwanted chemicals into the environment.

How Does the Photocatalytic Coating Work?

Two common substances, such as air and the smoke molecules or viruses and bacteria that are suspended in it, exist together without any problems (e.g. in a smoky room). The moment a smoke particle touches an illuminated surface coated with a photocatalytic coating, it reacts with oxygen and oxidation or combustion occurs (the surface remains cool, however, so it is a chemical reaction). Impurities in the air are then broken down into water and carbon dioxide molecules. Photocatalysis can be used to destroy organic allergens, carcinogens, viruses, bacteria, spores, and also to decompose exhaust fumes. Eventually, even the most complex organic molecules are converted into harmless simple inorganic compounds such as carbon dioxide, water and the corresponding mineral acids. Unlike various chemical preparations, the photocatalytic layer can also handle microbes, as it burns all organic matter indiscriminately.

The whole process is activated by daylight, so in interiors where the coating is used it is important that daylight falls on the surface or that the room is illuminated by special bulbs. The photoactive layer is porous and has a huge specific surface area. The process is driven by light, so unlike other products it is inexhaustible and does not introduce other substances into the environment as is the case with disinfectants etc.

What Can Photocatalytic Coating Do?

  • Effectively destroys microorganisms - viruses, bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms
  • Prevents the establishment of viruses and bacteria - reduces the risk of disease transmission
  • Very suitable for allergy and asthma sufferers
  • Cleans the air of organic pollutants by means of the photocatalytic effect
  • High UV protection - against efflorescence and substrate degradation
  • Self-cleaning function - protects the surface against the build-up of airborne dirt
  • High breathability and vapour permeability, certified for concrete

Benefits of FN® 1 BioMax Functional Coating

  • Against decay and loss of facade colour

  • Renewal of FN® 1 BioMax once every five years - intervention and operating theatres, acute inpatient intensive care units, sampling rooms, laboratories, infectious diseases wards, paediatric and neonatal wards.
  • Renewal of FN® 1 BioMax once every seven years - other than in non-health care facilities

USE OF FN® 1 BioMax RADICALLY LIMITS THE OUTPUT OF VIRUSES, BACTERIA, FLOODS AND OTHER MICROORGANISMS.

State Health Institute (SZU)

 - Antimicrobial activity of FN® 1 BioMax, certificates

SZÚ - CEM Laboratories, NRL for disinfection and sterilization carried out testing of the antibacterial activity of the FN® 1 BioMax sample by a test method modified according to ISO 22196. At a test temperature of 36 +- 1°C, relative humidity greater than 90% and an exposure time of 5 hours, the following results were obtained for individual microbes:

(K = control in log - reference glass, P = test sample, K - P = decrease)

For all these microbes, there was a reduction of 5 log orders in the number of microorganisms, which provides a bactericidal effect. The biocidal function of the formulation is enhanced by the strong self-cleaning effect and air purification based on the photocatalytic effect of titanium dioxide.

Three Rules for the Application of FN® 1 BioMax Functional Coating - What to Watch out for

1) Always mix the suspension before application - ideally use a tub not a bucket when applying. If you are using a bucket, it is essential that you have someone stirring the suspension at all times. Never let the paint stand for long periods without stirring.

2) All coats must be thin - FN NANO® is not a cover coat, it is a functional coat and you must always apply thin coats in order for the paint to crystallize properly. Never simplify the job by deciding to apply two thicker coats instead of three. The paint should be thin.

3) Never apply paint to waterproof surfaces and always apply paint at least 24 hours after painting

Appearance of Paint

FN®1 BioMax is semi-transparent. In the basic version it has a white shade, coloured shades can also be ordered. The coating thickness is optimally 5-20 microns.

The layer is active immediately after exposure to daylight or artificial light with UVA spectrum (interior), the antibacterial effect is ensured even without the presence of light radiation by a chemical biocidal agent. The optimum wavelength of UV light for illumination from an artificial source is 365 nm.

The coating is cured after 24 hours.

THE PHOTOCATALYTIC EFFECT IS PERMANENT, INEXHAUSTIBLE AND DOES NOT FADE WITH TIME. ALL PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS ARE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT THE LIFETIME OF THE COATING.

Thanks to photocatalysis, dirt, bacteria and other micro-organisms do not settle on the surface created by the FN® 1 BioMax coating, which is activated by UVA light (it acts as a barrier against micro-organisms). It is also a highly effective technology for air decontamination.

Application Possibilities

  • External facades, walls, concrete structures
  • Treatment of building contact surfaces
  • Suitable for tunnels to destroy toxins and car exhaust fumes
  • Treatment of surfaces against sprayers (it is advisable to apply five layers instead of the usual three. This creates a very porous hydrophilic film which is difficult for the spray to penetrate. The same creation will then consume up to 5 times as much paint and, in addition, his creation can be easily scraped off with a rough brush, which must then be restored on the scraped area, e.g. with a roller). Five coats only need to be applied to the underside of the façade and the usual three coats are sufficient for the rest. Typical consumption of the suspension is litre/10 m2)

Ingredients:

Pure water-based composite coating. It contains an untreated photocatalyst (50 - 70 g/l), inorganic binders and an effective biocidal agent, which ensures its long-term flawless protective function and also a particularly high self-cleaning efficiency.

The coating does not contain any organic compounds in accordance with European and world trends in environmental and health protection. The applied FN® 1 BioMax coating layer is inert and completely safe. It does not release any substances into the environment.

Use indoors and outdoors

Interior - Areas of Application

  • Hospitals, public buildings, banks, schools
  • Livestock and food production (reducing the risk of epidemics, odour and bacteria, fungi, moulds, yeasts)
  • Garages, basements, bunkers - sanitary treatment and air purification from microbes, toxins, automobile fumes and odours.
  • For masonry and plasterboard substrates - in case of problems with mould, fungi, etc., we recommend first treating the surfaces with an anti-mould product, letting it dry and then applying one coat of FN® 1 BioMax as a prevention against the build-up of microorganisms. Then apply two more coats of FN® 2 or FN® 3 functional coating to create active antimicrobial protection and a self-cleaning nano air cleaner. Here, it is necessary to ensure that the coating has a sufficient light source to activate it for long-term functionality.

Method of Application of FN® 1 BioMax Functional Coating

Before each application, the coating must be shaken very thoroughly in the container in which it is supplied. Perfect shaking is necessary to achieve even mixing of the insoluble dust component in the coating. This is necessary to ensure the proper function of the protective coating.

It is important to keep the coating in motion. In practice, this means pouring only a small amount of the already thoroughly mixed coating before applying.
To achieve a nice appearance, always apply as thin but continuous and even a coat as possible, allowing it to dry completely before the next coat.

By spraying - optimally three coats. On smooth surfaces, the manufacturer recommends spray coating to create a thin even coat.

Roller application, optimally in three coats, is suitable for virtually all surfaces. Uniform application requires some skill.

Brush application (for hard to reach areas) optimally in three coats

layers is suitable for poorly accessible areas, deeper diffusion of the active substance and for treating areas that may be affected by mould, for example.

  • Cover well all areas that will not be treated with the FNO layer
  • Allow the layer to dry between applications
  • Do not apply in the rain
  • For better effect, we recommend that the surfaces are thoroughly cleaned before application

Do not apply on water repellent (hydrophobic) surfaces.

The application method, tools and equipment used must be appropriate to the specific conditions, condition and requirements of the object on which the coating is to be applied.

During application of the coating, the nanoparticles of the active substance penetrate the porous structure of the substrate where they bind in a layer of inorganic binders. The still-island-like layer with a thickness of only 200 nanometres is able to provide a photocatalytic function of approximately fifty percent, which guarantees many years of functionality and effectiveness of this coating even in outdoor environments. The applied layer is frost-resistant and highly vapour permeable - thus, no damage to the substrate in winter due to frost heave.

Thinning:

Do not dilute!

The FN NANO company develops and manufactures nanotechnological functional coatings and self-cleaning water coatings that eliminate microorganisms (including algae), organic impurities, allergens and odors.

The effectiveness of FN NANO products was confirmed by independent studies conducted by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, the Technical University in Ostrava and other research organizations.

How do FN NANO coatings work?

The main effective component of FN NANO products are photocatalytic crystals of titanium dioxide (TiO2). After exposure to sunlight, they are activated and – in cooperation with oxygen – create a strong oxidizing environment in their surroundings, which decomposes organic molecules into oxides of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and water.

The high efficiency of coatings in the form of coatings is ensured by a patented binder that increases the functional area of the TiO2 crystals to the maximum. It prevents the further settlement of microorganisms and at the same time protects the substrate on which they are applied from UV radiation.

FN NANO preparations do not contain any organic substances and are not dangerous for the environment.

Which FN NANO product to choose?

Choose the coating according to the material of the wall and the intended function.
